Overview

The Virginia Club of San Diego is the official alumni chapter of the University of Virginia for the city and county of San Diego, CA. We seek to serve both our local alumni and the University with our activities and programs.

Our primary mechanism for serving the local alumni is through the hosting of social events that enable local UVA alumni to meet each other and make friends and business contacts. This is especially useful for alumni new to San Diego. Social events occur roughly monthly, but occasionally more often (especially during football season). Events occasionally involve other alumni organizations as well, thereby increasing opportunities to meet potential contacts and friends.

Our chapter sponsors events periodically that support and promote the University. In many cases, the monthly social event will be coupled with the University service event.

Membership

There are over 600 UVA alumni with San Diego County mailing addresses in the University of Virginia database, HoosOnline, and over 200 on the e-mail list. However, to be an official member of the Virginia Club of San Diego, please pay Club dues. Your dues help the Club conduct events for UVA alumni in San Diego and recruit new students to the University from San Diego High Schools.

Or, checks can be given to Amy Resler at any Club event. Only Cavalier Club level (for graduates before 2001) is required for official membership. Dues amounts are:

  • Young Alumni (Graduating classes of 2001 - 2006): $20
  • Cavalier Club: $40
  • Rotunda Club: $75
  • Jefferson Club: $125

All UVA alumni, whether they are official members or not, are welcome to all events. However, official members get discounts at many events that have costs.
